Picture the Highlands - a celebration in photographs of Highland life and culture. The Press and Journal newspaper has selected more than 40 pictures taken by staff photographers for the exhibition as part of its contribution to Highland 2007. A selection of the pictures is on show at Inverness Library, Farraline Park, until February 17 and the full exhibition goes on a tour of the Highlands later (see full details below). The Picture the Highlands tour itinerary has been planned and organised by Highland Council exhibitions unit and Highland 2007. |
| The exhibition crosses over many genres, including heritage, wildlife, sport, nature and more. The photos all come with large print information below each framed picture. The clarity of colour and quality of the images are breathtaking and serves as an excellent representation of the people and places of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The exhibition will be leaving its current home, Inverness Library, on the 17th February but will be visiting Thurso, Kingussie, Inverness (Museum), Ullapool and Wick throughout the course of the year. |

Some 40 pictures were finally chosen for the tour, all taken by staff photographers with the majority by Sandy McCook and Alasdair Allen. They are especially eye-catching after being enlarged and framed professionally by Hugh Nicol of Riverside Gallery in Inverness. |
| Copies of all the pictures can be ordered from the Press and Journal shop by telephoning 01224 338011 or visiting the shop at 170, Union Street, Aberdeen. A number of dates have been confirmed and it is hoped to add more. |
